A New Era of Grassroots Cricket Excellence
The RSR Scholarship Program 2025 – 2026 was not merely a scholarship initiative. It became a defining moment in the evolution of youth cricket development across the UAE and the wider Indian cricketing ecosystem. What unfolded in Dubai was a convergence of elite mentorship, international sporting vision, academic integration, and grassroots ambition, all under one platform designed to nurture the next generation of cricketers.
Held in the distinguished presence of His Excellency Sheikh Ali Bin Rashed Ali Saeed Al Maktoum, Chairman of ALMAK Group, the event elevated itself beyond a conventional academy scholarship launch. It represented prestige, credibility, and a growing international confidence in the future of youth cricket development through structured pathways.
At the centre of this initiative stood legendary Indian cricketer and former UAE coach Robin Singh, whose philosophy around player development shaped the foundation of the entire program. Built through Robin Sports Relations (RSR), the scholarship initiative reflected a long term vision focused on discipline, performance, mental growth, and international readiness.
“Grassroots cricket is where belief becomes ambition, and ambition becomes legacy.”
The launch of the RSR Cricket Scholarship Program in Dubai drew wide media attention, reinforcing its positioning as a structured and professionally backed grassroots cricket initiative.
A Ceremony That Signaled Prestige
The felicitation ceremony held at the Radisson Blu Hotel Deira Creek carried the atmosphere of a professional sporting milestone rather than a grassroots academy gathering. Young cricketers, school leaders, sports educators, parents, coaches, and dignitaries gathered to witness the beginning of what many viewed as a transformational cricket initiative for the region.
The royal presence of Sheikh Ali Bin Rashed Ali Saeed Al Maktoum added immense stature to the evening. His participation symbolised growing recognition for structured youth sports development in the UAE.
The elite panel included Robin Singh, Shivnarine Chanderpaul, Debashish Mohanty, T Kumaran, CP Rizwan, and Aayan Khan. For many athletes present, this became a once in a lifetime experience that connected grassroots dreams with international cricketing excellence.
The Vision Behind RSR
The RSR philosophy emerged from a deeply modern understanding of cricket development. Robin Singh repeatedly emphasised that cricket is a game of fractions of a second, where observation, discipline, reaction, and execution separate average players from elite performers.
Unlike conventional youth programs that focus only on repetitive drills, RSR’s framework prioritised match awareness, mental adaptability, athletic development, tactical intelligence, and educational balance.
The academy promoted a “play more, train less” philosophy, encouraging players to learn through real competitive situations rather than only repetitive technical correction.
The Role of Banda Srinivasa Babu and Strategic Expansion
An important force behind the expansion and operational vision of RSR was Mr. Banda Srinivasa Babu, recognised as Chief Mentor for Expansions at RSR.
His role represented more than administrative leadership. He became one of the strategic architects helping position RSR as a long term cricket development ecosystem rather than simply an academy.
Banda Srinivasa Babu strongly reinforced the importance of balancing sporting excellence with academic growth. Under this philosophy, cricket was never viewed as isolated from education or personal development. Instead, the initiative encouraged athletes to grow as disciplined individuals capable of succeeding both on and off the field.
The expansion vision surrounding RSR revealed ambitions extending far beyond Dubai, including partnerships connected to English county clubs, international schools, Texas Cricket Academy in the USA, Indian academy partnerships, and global training exposure opportunities.
The Scholarship Selection Process
The 2025 – 2026 scholarship trials attracted 125 registrations from schools across Dubai. After extensive evaluations and multiple rounds of assessment across Abu Dhabi, Dubai, and Sharjah, only 16 players were selected.
Players were evaluated across batting technique, bowling consistency, match temperament, tactical awareness, fielding intensity, athletic movement, and discipline under pressure.
The academy environment mirrored professional standards. Coaches observed not only skill, but also body language, resilience, communication, and emotional control.
Scholarship Winners and Selected Scholars
Fourteen year old Lokesh Reddy from Delhi Private School, Sharjah secured the first position after impressive performances across multiple trial phases. Advay Ghosh from GEMS Modern Academy finished second.
The selected scholars for the RSR Scholarship Program 2025 – 2026 included:
Beyond Cricket Development
One of the strongest aspects of the RSR Scholarship Program was its emphasis on holistic growth. Parents, coaches, and mentors repeatedly highlighted that the academy’s purpose extended beyond producing technically sound cricketers.
The environment encouraged leadership, confidence, discipline, communication, teamwork, and mental toughness. This philosophy aligned strongly with Robin Singh’s belief that players should compete with themselves before competing against others.
The Emotional Impact
Behind every selected scholar was a deeply personal story. Parents travelled across cities for trials. Young athletes trained through pressure and uncertainty. Some players entered with years of coaching experience, while others carried raw ambition and determination.
For many families, the scholarship represented validation. It symbolised recognition for years of sacrifice, training schedules, school balancing, and emotional support.
Receiving recognition from cricket legends and dignitaries became a defining memory for many of the young scholars selected.
The impact of the initiative resonated strongly within the wider Indian and expatriate community across the Gulf region.
A Blueprint for the Future
The RSR Scholarship Program 2025 – 2026 established itself as more than a successful cricket initiative. It became a blueprint for how modern grassroots cricket ecosystems can operate. Professional mentorship, educational integration, international pathways, athletic culture, and mental development combined to create a program that reflected the future of youth cricket development.
Robin Singh has repeatedly emphasised that the long-term goal of such programs is to help shape players capable of contributing to the UAE national cricket setup.
With leadership from Robin Singh, strategic expansion support from Banda Srinivasa Babu, and the prestige brought through royal and dignitary presence, RSR positioned itself as a serious force within the emerging cricket landscape of the UAE and beyond.
